First, when you go away for an extended period of time, unplug your garage door if possible. The system is not susceptible to remote access if it is off. Sometimes the low tech solution is the best solution. In this case that is absolutely so. Second, change the default frequency of your garage door if you are able to do so. This is a bit more entailed but is certainly doable if you worry about security.
